I just had one of the best days ever, what an amazing way to spend my last free Tuesday!!

It’s so amazing, what goes on behind the scenes at Heart of God Church. In the office, there is always such a buzz, such an excitement, such an anticipation because there are new things to be learnt, crazy ideas to be implemented, and battles to be won. I spent one whole day in the office sitting in for meetings – and I’ve just learnt so much.

But one thing that really amazes me is my Pastors, Pastor Tan Seow How and Pastor Cecilia Chan‘s heart for people. Every single thing we have in service: from the lights, to the worship, to the testimony shared; they are all thought through with so much detail. It is all about whether there are opportunities for new people to take on new roles, such as in the youth service, where the secondary school leaders take turns to go on stage to read the Bible passage to over 500 people. It is about whether there are chances to affirm and encourage people, be it through the testimonies or the stories shared. It is about respecting young people, believing that they can do great things, regardless of whether it is running the entire customer and operations in service on their own. At the heart of it all, it is simply about people.

Some things, we take it for granted. We take it for granted that every week, we are going to receive a powerful word from God. We take it for granted that the worship team will lead us into the presence of God. We even take for granted the friends that we have sitting in service with us.

But when I see what goes on behind the scenes, when I see Pastors’ heart for each and every single person, I never want to take any of these for granted. Pastors’ heart is simply for each and everyone of us to be able to encounter God during service, for people to experience His love and His presence. Ultimately, church is about loving people, about glorifying God, about giving Him the highest honour. That is why we do what we do, that is why we are always giving our best in what we do: because we love God, love people, and love life.

What an awesome day 🙂
